Day 1 – Airport to Negombo

Upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by your chauffeur guide and transferred to Negombo, a charming coastal fishing town located just north of Colombo. Known for its golden beaches, swaying coconut palms, and vibrant fishing culture, Negombo offers a relaxing introduction to Sri Lanka. After checking into your hotel, you can spend the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing by the beach or enjoying the tropical atmosphere. In the evening, savor a delicious seafood dinner, as Negombo is renowned for its fresh and flavorful seafood. Overnight stay in Negombo or Waikkal.

After breakfast, you will leave Negombo and travel towards Sigiriya, located in Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. En route, you may visit the famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where you can observe rescued elephants being cared for and bathing in the river. Continue your journey to Sigiriya and, after lunch, visit the magnificent Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century. Rising nearly 200 meters above the surrounding plains, this impressive rock fortress features ancient frescoes, landscaped gardens, and remarkable engineering. After exploring this historic site, proceed to your hotel in Habarana or Sigiriya and enjoy a relaxing evening. Overnight stay in Habarana.

Following breakfast, depart for Kandy, the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. On the way, visit the sacred Dambulla Cave Temple, another UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring beautifully preserved Buddha statues and ancient wall paintings inside rock caves. Continue your journey with a visit to a spice garden, where you will learn about Sri Lanka’s famous spices and their uses. Upon arrival in Kandy, enjoy a city tour including the scenic Kandy View Point and an optional visit to a gem museum. In the evening, witness a traditional Kandyan cultural dance performance showcasing Sri Lanka’s rich heritage. Overnight stay in Kandy.

After breakfast, visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth, one of the most important religious sites in Sri Lanka, which houses a sacred relic of Lord Buddha. Afterwards, proceed to Nuwara Eliya, a picturesque hill station known as “Little England” for its cool climate and colonial charm. Along the way, stop at Ramboda Falls and visit a tea plantation and factory, where you can learn about Sri Lanka’s world-famous tea production. You will also visit the Hanuman Temple, which is connected to the ancient Ramayana legend. Upon arrival in Nuwara Eliya, enjoy a relaxing walk around Gregory Lake and explore the local markets. After breakfast, you will take one of the most scenic train journeys in the world from Nanu Oya to Ella. This unforgettable ride takes you through misty mountains, lush tea plantations, tunnels, and waterfalls, offering breathtaking views throughout the journey. Upon arrival in Ella, your driver will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. Later, visit the iconic Nine Arch Bridge, an architectural masterpiece surrounded by greenery, and enjoy a gentle hike to Little Adam’s Peak for panoramic views of the hills. Spend the evening relaxing in the peaceful mountain atmosphere. Overnight stay in Ella.

After breakfast, depart Ella and travel towards Sri Lanka’s southern coast. En route, enjoy an exciting wildlife safari at either Yala National Park, famous for its leopards, elephants, and diverse wildlife, or Udawalawe National Park, known for its large population of wild elephants. After the safari, continue your journey to your chosen beach destination such as Mirissa, Unawatuna, Bentota, Tangalle, or Galle. Early in the morning, you have the option to go whale and dolphin watching in Mirissa, one of the best places in the world to spot blue whales. After breakfast, visit the historic Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by the Portuguese and later fortified by the Dutch. Walk along the ramparts, explore charming streets, and admire the colonial architecture. You may also visit a turtle hatchery to learn about sea turtle conservation. After breakfast, depart your hotel and travel towards Colombo. Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy a brief city tour or shopping experience in Colombo before continuing to the airport. You will then be transferred to Bandaranaike International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your unforgettable Sri Lanka journey filled with culture, nature, wildlife, and beautiful landscapes.
